“This is Second Life!”
This webinar series will provide participants with a detailed overview of the multi-user virtual environment (M.U.V.E.) known as Second Life and specific implications for online educators and educational institutions. Join our panel for a lively discussion about Second Life's structure, purpose, benefits and unique learning affordances.
Educators are flocking to Second Life for personal professional development purposes as well as to provide flexible, user-controlled, immersive learning environments. Individuals that attend the session will be invited to a hands-on in-world exploration of Second Life, starting with islands created by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
Participants will, in a follow up session the following week, get firsthand assistance establishing their accounts in Second Life and will learn how to move and interact in the virtual space. Educational communities (such as ISTE and Discovery Educator Network) will be highlighted along with several "must-see" Second Life destinations that will demonstrate the power and flexibility of the medium.
